Free Stuff? Yes, please!

If you haven’t already heard of things like the “gift it forward” page or “buy nothing project”, you have got to get on it as soon as possible!

Pages like the ones I’ve mentioned, were created as a way to get the community closer, help neighbors, reduce waste and a way to show gratitude to each other. You can find a variety of things on these pages like clothes, furniture, and even tickets! All for free!! For me, it’s a mom on a budget’s dream. Since becoming a mom, I’ve really had to find ways to save money. Kids ain’t cheap! And people are just giving things away or throwing them out left and right. We live in a society filled with abundance and excess. This is a perfect way to look for what you need and give away what you no longer need.

Not only have I found great items on these pages, but I’ve also found many other free items on local neighborhood Facebook pages as well as Nextdoor.

So far, I have been gifted for free, a beautiful glass patio table with four chairs and large outdoor umbrella. I was even gifted a pass card with 10 visits to an indoor play place as well as passes to a local pool. We were given a beautiful piano, which just needed to be moved and tuned.

Our daughter loved this piano

I’ve received a ton of free clothes and shoes for both of my children. Probably my favorite find has been one of those giant step-2 rock climbing walls. It’s normally a very expensive outdoor toy and someone was just getting rid of it. It was only missing a few of the ropes to climb on one side but still looks and works great!

What a great find!

Some other things I’ve been lucky to find have been; a perfectly good IKEA loft bed for my daughter, playhouse, swing set with slide, a train table with blocks and tracks included, cloth diapers, and countless amounts of toys.

We found a Christmas tree, baby swing, tub and jump a roo, 2 area rugs (one basically brand new), rain boots, a double stroller, nursing tanks, craft supplies, teething necklaces, a wagon, book shelves, large IKEA storage tubs, a queen sized bed/mattress/box spring, kids activity cube, futon couch, a car seat trolley, beauty products, and so much more!!!

If you are looking for a way to give things away without filling up landfills, or just a mom on a budget like me, check out what free groups are in your area. We are so grateful to have the generous community that we have found.

Happy hunting!
