Free Playhouse, Turned Intergalactic Adventure

I love finding free gems! So many people give things away or are moving and have no space for things. You just have to look. I’ve been really lucky to get a few good finds on Nextdoor, local FaceBook groups and the BuyNothing project groups.

Back when my daughter was almost two years old, she was obsessed with everything outer space. I had found a woman getting rid of a Step-2 playhouse and I was wanting to give it an intergalactic makeover.

From The Beginning

First thing we did was take it apart and clean every corner to get rid of any dirt or grime. Once everything was completely dry, we started the painting. But boy, it took a lot of spray paint.

Almost done

The project is easy if you have patience. We started with Krylon Colormaster in Satin Black. Let each coat dry completely before moving on. We painted accessories with Krylon Colormaster in Satin Oxford Blue and Valspar Project Perfect Paint and Primer in Flat Dark Purple. After everything was painted and put back together, I created a galaxy like design by spray painting sponges and gently blotting on the play house. I used Krylon Glitter Blast, and Krylon Shimmer Metallic Purple Shimmer. After everything was dry and complete, I used Krylon Colormaster in Satin White to soak a paint brush and my hands to splatter white all over to look like stars. We used a the black sparkle finish and purple finish to make faint Galaxy lines around the house. We never ended up painting the inside, but wish we had. I also decided to paint the sandbox/picnic table we got so it would match. That was also another great steal that someone was selling for $30.

Finished products

This project was a lot of fun and my daughter loved her new playhouse. It was also a perfect addition for her Space themed birthday party that year.
